The 7 Germiest Parts of Your Body You Should Never Touch

The body is a wonderful thing, but let’s be honest, it can also be a fairly disgusting thing. There are some parts of the body that serve very gross purposes but are otherwise best left alone. If you want to minimize the spread of disease and unpleasant germs on your body, these are the seven parts of your body you should never touch.

The 7 Germiest Parts of Your Body

Some of these body parts won’t surprise you at all. Others will make you cringe when you think about all the germs you’ve unintentionally spread. Keep your hands to yourself—and to clean parts of the body—by avoiding these seven areas.

  • Your face:

Your face—the window to your soul and one of the dirtiest places on your body. Your face touches many things throughout the course of a day, from the screen of your smartphone to that door you accidentally ran into. Those germs can be spread anywhere on your body if you touch your face.

  • Your ears:

The inside of the ear is the key to your sense of hearing. Mess with it, and you could be dealing with a ringing sound in your head for the rest of your life. You should never stick anything into your ears, as they are supposed to clean themselves. If you have issues, contact a doctor rather than trying to self-diagnose.

  • Your eyes:

Your eyes are moist and give bacteria an open door to the rest of your body. Don’t rub, don’t poke, don’t touch. Unless you wear contact lenses, there’s no reason that you need to touch your eyes.

  • Your mouth:

As with your eyes, your mouth can spread disease throughout the body at an extremely rapid pace. Think of how many germs your hands have—do you really want all of that in your mouth, reproducing freely?

  • The inside of your nose:

No matter how badly the inside of your nose itches, keep your fingers out. The skin in this part of your nose is extremely thin. Accidentally scratching the inside of your nose can spread infection and leave you feeling sick.

  • The skin under your nails:

Bacteria love the skin under your nails. It’s dark, rarely washed as much as it should be, and full of places to hide. Instead of picking at your skin, keep your nails as short as possible to avoid the spread of disease.

  • Your butt:

You were expecting this, right? All kinds of nasty bacteria live in your digestive tract. Beyond taking care of things after using the toilet, your hands don’t need to be by your behind. Wash thoroughly after using the restroom to avoid spreading bacteria to other parts of your body and to other surfaces.

Your body is your temple. Protect it by keeping your hands clean and free of germs. By staying away from these seven body parts and washing your hands frequently, you can drastically improve your health.
