The USDA gave a green light to America to import processed chicken meat from China and the worst part is that these products will be offered on the market without a country-of-origin label.

You should be aware of the fact that the chickens will be slaughtered in America, or another country that is allowed to export butchered chicken to the United States. Then, the chickens will be delivered to China in order to be processed and then returned in the state.
New York City Times reveal that no USDA inspectors will exist in the Chinese processing plants. This is why the customers won’t have assurances where the processed chickens remained in fact butchered. Moreover, there will be no labels on the products. This means that the customers won’t have any idea whether the chicken meat was processed in China or in America.
Nowadays, a similar process is being used for U.S. seafood. Seattle Times claims that locally caught Pacific salmon and Dungeness crab are being exportet to Chine in order to be processed and then re-imported in America. The main reason why this is done is because of significant cost savings.
Charles Bundrant, founder of Trident says:” There are 36 pin bones in a salmon and the best way to remove them is by hand. Something that would cost us $1 per pound labor here, they get it provided for 20 cents in China.”
He ships around 30 million pounds of its 1.2 billion-pound yearly harvest to China for processing.
You probably ask yourself what was the USDA thinking when allowing this to happen? This is a sensible goal, and one that the USDA has to pursue– just not at the cost of a safe U.S. food supply.
