Nothing Kills the Mood Like A Jock Itch (And How To Fix It)

Jock itch, yes jock itch, a well-known fear for many athletes. You’ve heard about this phenomenon, and if you are an active male or female you may have experienced the itchiness, redness or burning sensations. It is a fungal infection caused by the fungus trichophyton rubrum. The name alone sounds horrifying.

However, there are many ways to treat this problem naturally, and we’re here to share them with you. Enjoy!

1. Garlic

This is one of the oldest ways people have been treating this problem. Crush some garlic up and apply to the infected area, leave this on for some time to allow the skin to absorb what it needs to heal. You can also use the garlic in olive oil, but be sure to strain the oil. Apply this to the infected area for about thirty minutes to produce results.

2. Rubbing Alcohol

Use this to kill the fungal infection. The alcohol also keeps the area dry, which doesn’t allow the fungus to thrive. Rub the alcohol on the designated area a few times a day. It is also preferred that you use 90% isopropyl alcohol.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

This method provides strong antifungal and antibacterial properties. Apply 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into 2 cups of water. Rub this on the infected area 2-3 times a day, let this dry on its own.

4. Tea Tree Oil

Use a cotton ball with tea tree oil and a little bit of coconut oil and rub it on the infected area twice a day. This will hopefully eliminate the fungus completely. You can try soaking in a bath with a little bit of tea tree oil as well. This will alleviate itching and inflammation.

5. Listerine

This is another great way to treat infections. Listerine is loaded with antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties. Apply this to the infected area, it may sting, afterwards it will dry on its own removing inflammation and itchiness. Be sure not to use this on open wounds.

6. White Vinegar

This has great antifungal and antiseptic qualities that can clear up any infection. Mix 1 part of white vinegar with 4 of water and dip a cloth in the solution. Use this cloth and gently rub the infection, let this dry on its own. Or you can try using white vinegar and coconut oil, which will produce the same results.

7. Bleach

This solution has antifungal, antiseptic and antibacterial properties that treat jock itch very well. Mix one-fourth of a cup of bleach in bath water. Soak in the tub for fifteen to twenty minutes. After getting out pat your skin dry.

8. Onions

Onions have antifungal, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties that try jock itch very well. Grind up the onion into a paste; use onion oil or onion juice. Apply on affected area 2-3 times a day for thirty minutes each time. This should get rid of the infection quickly.

9. Honey

Honey has antifungal, antiseptic and soothing properties that help get rid of jock itch. Apply honey, munuka honey, to the infected area for thirty minutes. Then wash the honey off gently. Do this a couple times a day to get rid of the infection.

10. Salt Bath

Use Epson salts in a bath 2-3 times a day. The salt will control the infection, and eventually make it go away. Everyone knows how well salt works to cleanse skin. This is a great way to treat jock itch quickly.

Each of the above home remedies has been proven to remove jock itch. Let us pray that this never happens, however, if it does you now have 10 proven solutions to this annoying problem.
